Play School date with Zindzi

It’s Play School’s 50th birthday and we would love to invite you to celebrate with us!

Join the Maritime Museum and much loved Play School presenter Zindzi Okenyo as we sing and dance along to your favourite Play School songs.

Once you’ve played with Zindzi, walk over to the Museum and explore the exhibition Happy Birthday Play School: Celebrating 50 Years. See what is under the iconic Rocket Clock, meet the original Banana in Pyjamas, marvel at Jemima’s fabulous wardrobe through the years, watch clips from five decades of the show, and test your creativity at our craft tables. This exhibition is a delight for young and old.

Duration: 45 minutes
Where: Port Adelaide Enfield Town Hall
Cost: $20 per person (children under 12 months are free and do not require a ticket)
Includes: Play date with Zindzi, Play School exhibition, Lighthouse climb and entry to the Museum.

Zindzi will also head to the Museum for meet and greets between shows!

Zindzi Okenyo

Zindzi graduated from NIDA in 2006 and was cast in The Vertical Hour and The Crucible for STC and Scorched for Company B Belvoir. From 2009 to 2011, she was a member of the Residents Company at STC performing in The Mysteries: Genesis, Vs Macbeth, The Oresteia, The Comedy of Errors, Blood Wedding, Before/After, Money Shots and A History of Everything. In 2012, Zindzi toured Europe and USA with A History of Everything and began as a presenter on ABC’s Play School.

Zindzi has appeared in The Other Way, Boys Will be Boys, The Golden Age (STC), The Girl in the Tan Boots, Masquerade (Griffin), Good People, The Rasputin Affair (Ensemble) Disgraced, An Ideal Husband (MTC) Gaybies (Darlinghurst) Prize Fighter (Belvoir Company B) La Traviata (Belvoir) Antony and Cleopatra (Bell Shakespeare) and won a Best Female Performer Award for her role in Random (STCSA). She has also appeared in TV series Wonderland, Sisters (Network 10), The Code, Hiding, Janet King, Harrow, Get Krack!n (ABC TV). In 2017, Zindzi performed in feature films The Very Excellent Mr Dundee (Dir. Dean Murphy) and Little Monsters (Dir. Abe Forsyth).

In 2019, Zindzi has continued on Play School as well as the new Play School Art Time and Get Krack!n for ABC TV and played Beatrice in the Bell Shakespeare National Tour of Much Ado About Nothing.

As well as acting, Zindzi performs and records her own music under the name ‘OKENYO’.
