Last year, the Santos Tour Down Under returned to Port Adelaide for the first time in 19 years and the local community did not disappoint by putting on a colourful show for the first stage of the race. The celebration was so highly regarded that the Port was awarded first place in the Santos Best Dressed Town competition.
This year, Port Adelaide will again put on a magnificent show by hosting the finish for Men’s Stage 1 on Tuesday 15 January. Spectators are invited to join the official Peloton At The Port party.
The South Australian Maritime Museum is offering children under 15 years of age FREE entry on the day where visitors can experience the new exhibition Lustre, which explores the gritty human story of pearling. The museum has also received a Pirate makeover especially for the school holidays – (look for evidence of a pirate invasion in all our galleries) and performers from our show The Big Book of Pirates will be roaming the precinct.
The Maritime Museum and Lipson Street, along with the Lighthouse, Port River and the historic buildings will form a fabulous backdrop for the Tour Down Under celebration at the Peloton At The Port party – including interstate and local bands, local pubs and pop-ups serving up plenty of food and drink.
