Sight Cape Leeuwin, Australia’s west coast
27 May 1801 - 8 June 1801
Sighting Cape Leeuwin the expedition turns north and anchors at Géographe Bay, the first uncharted discovery of the voyage. The naturalists encounter a Wardandi man fishing and are disappointed when he flees. They plant seeds in the hope they will supply edible plants for the Aboriginal people. The ships become separated in a storm—the worst weather encountered since leaving France.
