Despite a warm welcome by the Spanish Consul, little goes to plan on Tenerife. Crew and scientists brawl. Officers complain there is scant fresh food. Two botanists hunting for plants fall from a cliff and are seriously injured. Eager to resume the journey, Baudin's frustrations grow as provisions fail to arrive.
