Nuyts Archipelago
2 May 1802 - 8 May 1802
Baudin clashes with his officers, his crew is ravaged by scurvy and strong winds prevent him rounding the islands of St Peter and St Francis. He writes of the islands, ‘I am not at all surprised that they have been given the names of two saints who had taken vows of poverty’. They turn east to find drinking water, firewood and rest in Van Diemen’s Land and then Port Jackson.
