Teachers’ Big Day Out

The Maritime Museum is one of the participating venues for the Teachers’ Big Days Out (TBDO), which is a professional learning event for all educators presented by South Australian cultural organisations with the support of the Department for Education. The program includes over 90 sessions across 22 cultural organisations addressing multiple learning areas and year levels, aligned to the curriculum.

Teachers will be offered a 90-minute tour of the Museum including a trip aboard the Archie Badenoch where you can learn about the history of the Port and search for the famous Port River dolphins, and a climb up the Port Adelaide Lighthouse. You will also be given the chance to look around the Museum and explore our three main education topics including the First Fleet, Exploration and Life on Board (Migration to SA).

Teachers can make their own way to Port Adelaide or a bus will be organised if more than 10 people book.
