Enhancing student inquiry at the South Australian Maritime Museum

Discover ways to structure learning experiences that enrich student inquiry in and beyond a museum setting.
Work with the South Australian Maritime Museum Educator and engage in a range of authentic, hands on, practical inquiry experiences. These can be used to develop students’ skills, knowledge and understanding, both inside the classroom and in real-world contexts.
Use iPads (provided) to engage with the Leviathan: The Astonishing Science and History of Whales exhibition, and use a variety of forms to respond to inquiry questions. Learn how student responses can be downloaded back at school, used as assessment data and to inform future learning engagement.
Discover the range of learning programs for students that align with the Australian Curriculum: HASS and Science.
Explore and implement a range of strategies and learning engagements that can be used in your classroom to challenge student thinking.
Cruise the Port River onboard our historic police vessel, the Archie Badenoch and discover how key questions and concepts can be used to give students a focus for their learning.
Connections with TfEL and the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers are made throughout the day:
