Secrets of Wedge Island: a forgotten history

A camouflaged radar station in World War II, a rich sailing heritage, and an isolated farm on a remote island… The remarkable secrets of Wedge Island, in the middle of the Spencer Gulf, are explored in a new novel by Anne Winckel.

Join Anne at the Maritime Museum for the launch of her novel as she shares her ancestors’ stories of island life, the stories of the war years and reflects on how they all inspired her writing.

Winddance is a teenage fiction novel based on a farming family living on Wedge Island.

It’s 1943 and World War II is raging – the Germans are in Europe – the Japanese in the Pacific – at home trouble is also brewing.

This is a free event. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase, all proceeds will go towards Nelcebee donations.

Bookings are essential.
