Ahoy! It’s Pirate Party Time!

Celebrate your birthday with a pirate theme extravaganza! Board your ship, the life-size ketch Active II and set sail in the air-conditioned comfort of the Maritime Museum. Pin the Parrot on the Pirate, throw the quoits at the Hook Toss, play our range of pirate games and explore the Museum.

The parties are perfect for children aged 4 to 10 and are available in black and red or black and pink pirate themes. We can do as much (or as little) of the work as you like for a hassle free party. We offer three pirate party packages:

The Jolly Roger – $38 per child

Frequently asked questions:

How far in advance do I need to book?

Spaces fill quickly so please book as early as possible to avoid disappointment. We require a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice.

How many children can we invite?

We can cater for a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20. Final numbers MUST be confirmed 72 hours before the party. Any additional adults and children not attending the party can buy general admission to the Maritime Museum on the day.

Are the parties suitable for girls?

Most certainly! Our costumes include options for little pirate ladies.

What is included in the catering?

The catering options include: party pies, sausage rolls and pasties, nuggets or fish pieces all served with chips; ham, cheese and tomato sandwiches; wedges; or vegetarian/gluten free options by arrangement.

The menu may be subject to change at any time depending on availability and number of children attending. Adults/Families not participating in the party may bring their own food and beverages as long as it is consumed within the designated party area. Alcohol is NOT allowed.

Do you supply a cake?

No, you will need to provide a cake but we will have basic candles, knife, white plates and napkins and a lighter.

What about allergies?

We are unable to cater to food allergies except for gluten free. This must be advised two weeks in advance.

Do we need to organise party bags?

You will only need to supply contents for the children to loot! Each party package includes the option for Pirates to decorate their own Pirate Party Loot Bag.

Do you provide professional theatrical entertainment?

Our party host (available with the Jolly Roger and Ahoy Matey packages) will be dressed in the theme and will help the children with activities and assist the party to run smoothly but will not be singing or providing theatrical entertainment. If you want to hire a real life pirate to attend we can recommend entertainers who provide this service.

Please note

A non-refundable deposit of $100 is required upon booking to confirm your reservation. We accept payment by phone, by cheque or in person at the Museum.

We can work with you if you need alternate days or times – please call the Museum for more information.

Themed party invitations will be emailed only when the booking is confirmed and the deposit is paid.

With the exception of birthday candles, we have a no-flame policy.

Guests to the birthday party may not use their Museum Membership towards birthday party admission.
