The South Australian Maritime Museum is an ideal learning environment for students to explore South Australia’s unique history, our relationship with maritime culture and the marine environment. The museum offers exciting and varied exhibits in the historic Bond Store, an original lighthouse and Port River cruises onboard the Archie Badenoch.
Schools are able to participate in a variety of programs at the museum and within the Port Adelaide area. Programs cover a wide range of curriculum areas and year levels and provide hands-on and discovery based learning experiences.
An Education Manager from the Department of Education and Children's Services (DECD) based at the South Australian Maritime Museum develops and delivers programs to support exhibitions and events and is available to support teachers with designing successful learning experiences for their students.
The Maritime Museum recognises with respect the traditional owners of the land upon which our Museum is built. Ngai wangandi marni nabudni Kaurna yertaanna.
Our education programs begin with a visit to the Education Website where all details for the visit of a lifetime are available at: education.maritime.history.sa.gov.au.
